Nick Kamper - Chief Executive Officer, Purpose Bureau

Nick Kamper is CEO of Purpose Bureau, Australia’s largest database of real-time ESG data. Purpose Bureau contains more than 200 sustainability insights on every business and government agency in Australia.


Maria Zotti - Manager of Park Lands and Sustainability, City of Adelaide

Maria Zotti is a specialist in environment, sustainability and public health policy and law and in connecting urban communities to nature.

Maris is currently the Manager of Park Lands and Sustainability at the City of Adelaide where she is committed to positioning Adelaide as a green, climate ready, liveable city surrounded by beautiful Park Lands and an international leader in responding to environmental change.

Maria has also held roles as Principal Policy Officer and Ministerial Advisor in the Environment and Conservation Portfolio, CEO of Nature Play SA, lawyer for Minter Ellison Lawyers and the Crown Solicitor’s Office and as a Lecturer in Environmental Law and Policy, Public Health Law and Policy and Food Law and Policy at Flinders University and University of Newcastle.


Portia Odell - Director, Cities Power Partnership

Portia Odell is Director of the Cities Power Partnership where she leads the delivery of the program’s strategy and impact. She holds a PhD from Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute and has a history working with communities, startups and governments helping them accelerate their climate projects. She is passionate about advancing the critical work of local governments taking meaningful action on climate change and is interested in the intersection between research, innovation and policy.


Professor Brendan Mackey - Director, National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility, Griffith University

Professor Brendan Mackey is Director of the Griffith Climate Action Beacon, Griffith Climate Change Response Program, and the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility at Griffith University.  He has a PhD in ecology from The Australian National University.

The primary foci of Professor Mackey's current research are:

  • Climate change adaptation and mitigation
  • Science-based policy for climate change, conservation and sustainable development
  • The application of decision support systems to environmental problems.

He has special expertise in climate change, forest ecosystems, biodiversity conservation and terrestrial carbon dynamic and has expertise in the application of Geographical Information System, remote sensing and environmental modelling to problems of environment and climate change.

Professor Mackey is the lead on a number of externally-funded research projects, including:

  • Research projects in the Pacific about ecosystem based adaptation
  • Information systems and decision support for adaptation research projects
  • Primary forests and climate change research projects
  • Whales in a changing climate

Professor Mackey is Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Working Group II - impacts, vulnerability & adaptation.
